Renovating.

Dear Readers, if you haven't noticed, posts are getting pretty scarce around here.  We are currently on the road to giving the site a complete overhaul so that we can bring bigger and better posts your way.  We wish we could give you more details, but that would ruin the moment.  We cannot give you a time-frame, but it will be worth the wait.

Sit tight and expect great things!

Absinthe at Santos Party House

On Thursday, February 17th, SWNYC attended the opening of Absinthe, a new weekly party at Santos Party House.  Promoted as "Music+Art+Fashion+Collaboration", Absinthe was one hell of a good time!  With a stellar performance by indie/new wave/pop band, Class Actress, the atmosphere was easy, sexy and carefree.  We will definitely be going back!  The night is backed by a gang of fashion forward hosts such as our very own Valissa Yoe.  Check out pics of this very eclectic crowd of beautiful people.

A.Z Araujo Fall 2011 Collective Fashion Show

SWNYC was able to attend the A.Z Araujo Fall 2011 Collective fashion show at the Sky Room on Wednesday, February 16th.  If the name sounds familiar, its because Bravo TV's Real Housewife of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey walked down the runway in one of his Miami shows during an episode this past season.  Cynthia looked amazing in his creations and so did these models!

As usual, we try to bring a different perspective when it comes to an event like this.  We were granted full access of the backstage area, where all of the models were getting ready.  Also, as an added bonus, we scored video of the entire show!  So check out some behind the scenes pictures and watch the whole show!

A Fetish for Fashion

On Feb 12, Folsom Street East presented its First Anual Fetish Fashion Show and Charity Auction, benefitting The Center: the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.  Billboard Dance Number 1 artist, Sylvia Tosun, performed and hosted at the event.  Sylvia invited SWNYC into her VIP area, and we had a blast! You may also notice Vic Banker dancing on stage with her.  We featured him and his line of jewelry awhile back.  Check out the post here for a refresher: Vic Banker.

I hope you enjoy viewing the pictures as much as we enjoyed taking them! ;)

Not only is Valissa Yoe one of our favorite stylist, she is also featured in Time Out New York as Most Stylish New Yorker!  To celebrate her feature in the magazine, Valissa hosted an amazing night at District 36!  SWNYC was able to partake in the celebration alongside a gogo dancing Michael Musto, stylist Omar Alexander, designer Christian Civera, music by legendary DJ Larry Tee, Dances with White Girls, and Fischerspooner.

Eddie Cumana's-"Alphabet City EP" OUT NOW!!!

(Photo for Cover Art by Daniil Dugaev)

I'm sure you remember our feature on house music mogul Eddie Cumana of Kult Records. Well, Eddie has realeased a new EP entitled "Alphabet City", which doesn't happen too often but definitely often enough for us to sleep with our dancin' shoes on!! The album is reminiscent of Eddie's decade long immersion in the culture of Alphabet City on the Lower East Side of Manhattan back when the LES was way more cutting edge, and more recently where Lady Gaga got her start as a local performer. You can best identify with Alphabet City if you know the musical "Rent" as it's based in and all about it.

With this album giving sounds from tech to deep to progressive house, there's a little something-something that every DJ will fire up for sure. It definitely gives us a nostalgic type of feel...like the one we ever so jealously wish we could have but rather admire through Eddie and this album .

.Here's what Eddie had to say about the project...

[After living 10 years on East 13th street & 2nd Ave in NYC, I developed a deep love for the nearby Alphabet City neighborhood where I often hunted for those rare promo vinyls back in the days. These streets are full of color and diversity just like this EP which comes filled with diverse styles and rhythms bunched up into one to make a new unique blended style of underground tracks! I hope you enjoy and as always, thank you all for the love and support!-Eddie]

The "Alphabet City EP" is available now at:

Also, here's a little taste of one of the tracks from the EP:

Behind the scenes with the fabulous Sammi "Sweetheart" of MTV's Jersey Shore

We got behind the scenes access to a photo shoot with Sammi Sweetheart from MTV's super hit reality show Jersey Shore. Street Walkers NYC Creator/Editor Mike Milan was the photographer so it goes without saying that we got in some Q&A with our favorite "sweet bitch," who we found to be WAY more sweet than bitchy. You may know her differently from how the show portrays it but we found Sammi to be very fun, easy-going, grounded and quite easy to work with. Basically...nothing like the reality show or the media portrays.

Our fabulous 2 day shoot was loaded with lots of love, laughs, and reality banter as Sammi got dolled up by an extremely amaze glam squad which was spear-headed by Ryan Nickulas from Logo's hit reality show the A List: New York and owner of Ryan Darius Salon. The fantastic Trina Patterson was the head stylist for the shoot. However, TJ Kelly (A-List:New York) and I both got to play tag-team stylists for the second day and had quite the fashion rumble in the sheets. Need I say more?!

Special shout-out to Roni Boutique, for providing the clothes for the second shoot!  Visit them at http://www.roninyc.com/.

Check out the photos and video interview we got of our sweetheart...and boys be ready to drool!!

Comics Stripped Exhibit

SWNYC was able to attend the opening of Craig Yoe's exhibit, Comics Stripped at The Museum of Sex.  If the surname sounds familiar, its because we have featured Craig's daughter, Valissa Yoe.  We now see where she gets her talents from!  As per ABC News, "The exhibit features 150 artifacts from the Great Depression to the present, including original drawings, illustrated books, comic books, magazines and videos."

If you are in the NYC area, this is a must see exhibit!  Check out some images we snapped below:

"No Pants! Subway Ride"

Only in New York City in the dead of winter can we stroll right into flocks of people with no pants on!!! Today was the eighth annual "No Pants! Subway Ride" which is an annual event staged by Improv Everywhere every January in New York City. It started as a small prank with seven guys, who ride the subway appearing to be regular patrons then remove their pants at the same time running amuck from location to location pantless, and has grown into an international celebration of hilarity. Rather than babbling on, I'd rather just show you what went on this Sunday night in NYC...enjoy!

NSFW photo's after this...!!!!
