New Single from ILAYDA - Sharp Shooter

Y'all remember our favorite Russian Pop Star Ilayda...

She provided us with an exclusive audio preview of her new single "Sharp Shooter," which again was written by Kalina from the Diddy-Dirty Money Crew and Co-Written by Miss Ilayda herself. We're sure you'll love the song as much as we do so without further ado here's...

Kelly Rowland's Private Show

Walmart hosted a private show with Kelly Rowland as part of their filming for the Walmart Soundcheck performance videos on Walmart.com. StreetWalkersNYC attended this exclusive event which was held at the Grammercy Theatre on the east side of Manhattan. It was an amazingly intimate setting and Kelly Rowland put on quite a show for her special audience. She looked f-ing fabulous as always, and she sounded beautiful. We couldn't have asked for more...

I did get a lot of video from the performance, however, the sound of most of them was distorted. I could only kind of salvage two of them. Thankfully, one of her performing her single "Commander" as well as another with her performing "Bad Habit" (a personal classic).

Features: Cazwell

When I moved to NYC, one of the first notable people I met was Cazwell.  Coming from Boston, I had only seen him on Perez Hilton's site, and his popular shoot with David LaChapelle.  Seeing him in person is a different experience.  He's a really nice guy and very approachable.  Outside of gay pop culture, you may not know Cazwell, but he is very well known around the world and the gays adore him.  Who doesn't love a cute gay rapper?
I have had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Mr Cazwell, and we both have roots in Boston.  How cool is that?  Anyhoo, Harvey Champagne and I were stoked when he agreed to a SWNYC Q&A!  We originally wanted him to submit the answers to our questions, but he felt it would be best to Skype it out.  So, here goes our first kind of formal interview.  Its not the best quality (we are still learnng as we go), but its a good listen/watch.

In the interview, Cazwell answers questions about Amanda Lepore, Beyonce's reaction to his song "I Seen Beyonce...", how he started and a lot more!

Also, check out his new video for Ice Cream Truck:

You can also check out his website http://www.cazwell.com/ and buy his single "Ice Cream Truck" or get it on iTunes.

Kult Records Party

Kult Records is a New York City based dance music label that has served us over 10 years of house, tech house, garage, hard house, techno, and tribal house (my personal favorite). They threw a party in Manhattan's Lower East Side at The Sullivan Room and it was quite the party to say the least. StreetWalkersNYC got some great shots of the crowd and the rough and rocking Kult Records Family which include: Seamus Haji, DJ Tango, Danny Buddah Morales, Eddie Cumana, VTone, David Martinez, and many more. Super fabulous hostess with the mostess Dina Delicious also made a cameo appearance at the event.

Shame on Target!

StreetWalkersNYC was invited to cover the Kaleidoscopic Fashion Spectacular at the Standard Hotel on Little West 12th Street which was sponsored by Target.

However, Mike Milan and I do NOT support Target or any event involving Target due to recent events where CEO Gregg Steinhafel of the Target Corporation made a $150,000 contribution to Minnesota Forward (MNF), which endorses and financially contributes to conservative Minnesota gubernational candidate Tom Emmer.

Emmer has very direct and obvious ties of support to, and has openly participated in fundraising for a radical Christian Group called, "You can run but you can't hide," who's pathetically ignorant leader Bradlee Dean has "spoken with some approval of Muslim attacks on homosexuals," bringing into our classrooms the belief that gay men and women should be killed solely for their sexual orientation...

So with that being said, so long as Target employs a person who can be so horrible as to fund political action committees that support people who support such organizations that harness that much hate for any person for whatever reason, We do not support Target nor any events that are related in any manner. Fortunately, we did get some great shots outside as there was a protest against the event and went about our streetwalking ways.

Nasty Girl Lingerie Soiree

Valissa Yoe and Mike Milan

Last night, StreetWalkersNYC attended a birthday party for Valissa and Mel B at the Ella Lounge in the lower east side.  Valissa and I share some mutual friends and we have worked on some shoots together.  She is a phenomenal stylist and looked amazingly sexy! Harvey Champagne and I, showed up with Brandon Durrette and Jocelyn Milan.  We had a blast!  The crowd was a good mix of freaks, fist pumpers, LES regulars, good time girls, lace, leather and booze.  A good time was had by all!

Some of the people in attendance were: Bella from The Fire and Reason, Kerin Rose, Kareem Black and DJ Vida (and a whole lot more that Im sure we are missing).

Features: Larry Tee

StreetWalkersNYC got a chance to catch up with internationally reknowned DJ and Music Producer Larry Tee. Larry has been a New York City staple since 1989, which then he quickly took over the club scene alongside fabu-legends such as Rupaul and many others. Larry has played at many highly regarded venues from his early days in NYC and now around the globe. He co-wrote Rupaul's top 40 hit "Supermodel (you better work)," and was featured in the movie Party Monster. Come the turn of the century he created and trademarked the 'ElectroClash' genre/movement which became highly well known so much so that it can be looked up in the Oxford Dictionary. He helped launch the careers of not only RuPaul, but the Scissor Sisters, Avenue D, W.I.T, Peaches, and Fischerspooner. Needless to say this man is a musical pioneer and has come across more than many accomplishments and continues to rock the world with his musical genius.

I can go on and on for days and decades about him but instead I'll let you indulge in some Q&A we had with the Legendary Larry Tee...

SWNYC: What was your life like before you started doing music Larry?

LARRY: I listened to the radio obsessively and made my own chart out of all the local and national charts...it was radio WLDT which was the initials of my name. Sports did not do a thing for me...instead I was a music chart fanatic!

SWNYC: What would you say your big break was?

LARRY: Um, starting with a band that had produced the B52s rock lobster/52 girls independent single. That gave me a ground work on modern electronic music and art rock that still comes in handy for me today. It was also the group that introduced me to michael stipe who was a fan and he taught me a lot of amazing things about cultivating ideas...

SWNYC: What are your inspirations these days, and how often do they change?

LARRY: Dance performance is my inspiration right now, like competetive dancers and their fun breakbeat collages. Im also infuenced by the club CREW I play in Brazil....they mix everything together at a great speed! My inspirations change by the minute and I am not loyal at all to an style or inspiration. When it is done, it is done for me! Bye bye old house, disco and electroclash.

SWNYC: You've been in the scene for quite some time now, what would you say your biggest fears are at this point?

LARRY: My biggest fears are....not having any fears...just kidding. My biggest fear is abandonment like everyone else really. I'm not so worried that I will run out of inspiration or hits. I am just beginning to rock in those territories...

SWNYC: Okay, needless to say, you travel a lot. When you return home to NYC what usually is the first thing or few things you have to do as soon as you arrive?

LARRY: Take my dog out...hehehe. I've lived in London now for the last 7 months and love it. I had been in NYC so long that it had run out of surprises for me. My dog still lives there and I still have my loft there, but I started dating europe more and more and eventually moved in with her.

SWNYC: Last but not least, What keeps you connected to The Big Apple?

LARRY: My doggie keeps me connected rignt now and the lovely friends I have of course, and I have to say I love the NA and AA meetings there because I have 13 years clean in November. Thats why I dont have so many fears...

With that being said, Larry is a man of great splendor and StreetWalkersNYC will most definitely keep you updated on all to come from this mastermind. If you want to indulge in some of his works, collaborations and upcoming events you can check him out at...

Features: Joy Daily

I met Joy Daily through the wonderful network that is Twitter, in 2008.  She was actually one of the first people that I followed.  Like most new people to Twitter do, I followed her because she was pretty, had a lot of followers, and seemed like somebody who would be interesting to read about.  Luckily, my ignorance paid off! lol  Joy really is as relevant to media as she is gorgeous.  She really is a one woman media machine that is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty.  As you will read, Joy not only puts her face in the front of her multimedia website, JoyDaily.tv, she does all the work behind the scenes as well.

Joy Daily recently made Blog and Internet headlines with her documentary on the Hip Hop industry's obsession with light skinned women.  A great watch, and an even greater discussion piece, she definitely had everybody talking.  When I asked Joy if she would participate in our website, both Harvey Champagne and I, were super excited to send her these questions.  As usual, she put her all into the process and gave us meaty answers.  I hope you enjoy this in depth Q&A:

SWNYC:  When did you realize you wanted a career in media?

JD:  I realized I wanted a career in the media when I first began to talk! No bullshit, I remember stealing every show I was ever apart of, from my first fashion show when I was 3 years old, to stealing the lead role in my preschool play when I was 6 years old. I hosted a morning show in elementary school, I won speech competitions in Middle School, I did TV Production in High school and that's where I discovered Joy Daily.

SWNYC:  How much work goes into what you do?

JD:  A lot of time and energy goes into producing a REAL video. I am not in the habit of slapping things together like some do on the Internet because for me the aesthetics of a video are just as important as the content. The fact that I do it ALL when I am producing a video also makes it very tedious. I do my own hair, make up, wardrobe, lighting, script writing, shooting and editing. And all of those things can be time consuming but the most difficult of them all is usually the editing process which I dread. I still find it difficult at times to watch and listen to myself which is crazy!

SWNYC:  How did you feel about the reactions to Complexion Obsession?

JD:  The reaction I got from Complexion Obsession was AMAZING. I knew this was a story that many women of color needed and badly wanted to hear. I knew that some would not like to hear the truth about our internal racism. I knew my story would touch the hearts of men and women of all races because people know that its not fair. I still have a last chapter of the Complexion Obsession Saga to be released and when I do I know that this documentary series will revolutionize the way that people internalize beauty standards from our media.

SWNYC:  Did any of the negative reaction get to you?

JD:  I loved the negative reactions I got just as much as the positive ones! The goal of a good producer/ director is to evoke emotions, it doesn't mater if they are good or bad. I did find it interesting how others viewed my complexion which was something I didn't expect. Some who were dark questioned my intentions because to them I was too light skinned to care. While those who were light skinned called me a hater because I was too dark skinned. Many bashed me for wearing a blond "weave" which was hilarious. I didn't realize how much people paid attention to my appearance until releasing Complexion Obsession.

SWNYC:  What's next for Joy Daily?

JD:  There is soooo much on the Horizon for me this year. I have my own Live Talk Radio Show (powered by streetmarketradio.com)  that broadcasts every Friday night from 10:30 to 11:30pm on my site. I also have a brand new Live Talk Show (powered by shovio.com) that airs Mondays from 7 to 8pm. I'm entering the world of live interactive web casts which is going to fun and exciting for me. I hope to transition my multi media presence on the net to Television and Radio in the future. I also will be finishing up Complexion Obsession and moving on to produce more documentary series for the web. I also would like to show my love for the gay community by producing a piece that speaks to the struggles that they have to overcome still today. My site www.JoyDaily.tv is my outlet and unlike other sites I wish to make the news rather than just regurgitating the same blogger garbage you see on everybody's website.

SWNYC:  Why do you love NYC?

JD:  I love NYC because like my Jamaican Uncle always says, Its the Center of the Universe! You get to meet the most powerful and influential people that you would never have the chance to run across anywhere else in the world. I love NYC because no matter what you are into there is always someone even weirder than you so everyone can be comfortable in their own shoes. I will always call New York home no matter where I am in the world because the opportunities are endless. Like everyone says if you can make it in NY you can make it Anywhere!

Remember our beloved Russian Pop Star Ilayda, she just finished shooting her video for what will be her official debut single,"Sharpshooter," which was also written by Kalina from 'Diddy-Dirty Money Crew' and has already taken over radio in her native Russia.
