We got the chance to catch up with a hot, new, and vastly up-and-coming Pop/R&B artist that goes by the name of Ilayda (pronounced ee-lie-duh). She's a transplant from Russia and has been here for a few years working on her current solo debut album. Not only did we get to ask her some questions, she even graced us with the chance to hear her new single "Stacks On Deck"-Featuring Juelz Santana. Ilayda also invited StreetWalkersNYC to her birthday bash at club Kiss and Fly in the Meat Packing District which brought notable people in attendance such as: Russell Simmons, Zab Judah, DJ Green Lantern, and many more. So needless to say, we got to party like rock stars and dance to her music...Here's what our Russian Pop Star had to share...
SWNYC: What was your life like before you started making music?
ILAYDA: My father is a famous Composer in Russia, so I've been living and making music all my life. In fact, there's not a time I can remember not ever making or not being surrounded by music.
SWNYC: What are your inspirations, currently?
ILAYDA: My personal life experiences and my close friend's and family's experiences too.
SWNYC: How long does it take you to create?
ILAYDA: It all depends on the mood...but if something comes to my mind, I will write it down no matter where I am or what I'm doing.
SWNYC: What's your least favorite part about making music?
ILAYDA: Recording it...
SWNYC: Whose the last person you spoke to on the phone?
ILAYDA: My Mother in Russia, but would have been someone else if I didn't miss the last two calls...[she winks and chuckles]
SWNYC: And last but not least, What's your favorite curse word or phrase using a curse word?
ILAYDA: "What the F*ck!" [she laughs out loud]
